dVerse — Haibun Monday — cherry blossoms

https://images.fineartamerica.com/images/artworkimages/mediumlarge/1/spring-rhapsody-happiness-and-cherry-blossom-trees-jane-small.jpg

Last year’s cherry blossoms were ghosts and pixelated. The grove at the gardens were off limits due to the pandemic. Instead I toured them in Washington, D.C. and Toronto, Canada via youtube. It was pleasant to do so, and better than nothing, but not quite the same.

This year the gardens is opened and advance tickets are required. I’m ok with that. About a month ago I took a tour of the grove to reacquaint myself with the path leading to it. At the beginning of last week it seemed as if the weather was moving in the right direction for sooner rather than later blossoms. By week’s end snow and heavy clouds returned with a denial. This week’s motions predict further adjournment of bloom.

A visionary
walks through pink snow, inhaling
tomorrow’s heaven.

Let’s write haibun that allude to cherry blossoms!

Beautiful Lisa, very moving. Enduring the cyclical nature of life is frustrating at times, sometimes quite often — but the choice to do so at the cause of the changes you must make, rather than at their affect, makes one a victor!

My daughter and I once stumbled by accident on the cherry blossoms in DC on her spring break–yes, always better in person. We are back to winter weather here too–I suspect our blossoms are at least a few weeks away. (K)

Kerfe, if you are ever going to stumble upon anything, there cannot be anything better than cherry blossoms in bloom en masse. Oh I can only imagine the fragrance and the thrill of it.

Wow! I didn’t either. Would love to go to DC someday and check them out. You know what I’ve always wanted to see there? Archie Bunker’s chair.

We were there for 4 days, and didn’t even begin to scratch the surface. Of course we were also visiting the outside monuments. I had never seen the Vietnam memorial except in photos. I was not the only one there crying.
