I am a gloomy sort. Doom shrouds my world in shades of carnage red and cancer black. I confidently sidle and stalk through days and nights as my sleaze blends with darkness and my conquests beg for the mercy of release.
Yesterday I notice I am being followed. Does the fool have any idea who they are dealing with? A horde of demons are at my disposal! A mere clearing of my throat will call them forth!
No, it doesn’t matter if they do. I will handle this on my own.
It is time to play chicken with an angel.

Several months ago, I had my short story “Wolf in the Wind” published in an anthology called “Shoot the Devil.” The publisher is Catholic and wanted to create a book about good destroying evil. My story was a little more complicated than that, but what you wrote would have very much fit into that universe. The publisher is thinking about a second volume, this time confronting evil in space.

Thanks Dale. I’ve resisted the temptation to watch Lucifer (see what I did there?) because I really really don’t want to like the devil and I’m afraid the show has put him in a positive light. How do they characterize him in it??

Tee hee. It’s kitschy and not to everyone’s tastes. My mother watched a few episodes but I really liked. I am zero religious so I am might fine with them showing his struggles on wanting to be good. He does good – he sometimes fails. He is funny and sexy and full of himself and searching for himself and unsure in some ways. I dunno. I just liked it.

The photo was taken last June on the highway between Timaru and Christchurch in NZ, while on holiday. I was trying to capture the sunrise but the headlights wanted to bomb my pic! It turned out a great photo, especially for writing inspiration 🙂

That long straight stretch of road gets a bit boring, so when a sunrise or set lights up the sky, it’s magic 🌄
