dVerse Q170 (2nd one) — Datura’s Symphony

Elizabeth Turk. Suspended Meditation, 2015. Texas limestone and 24k gold leaf, 38 x 36 x 36 inches.

Datura, pale, mute blossom, listens in
the cold, dark purple night, as the moon
stays a lost prisoner in towered clouds.
She eschews silence; instead yearns
for dreamed notes in her stone cavern:
lost music’s echoed strains of moaned
liquid silk and vermillion-scented sins.

2nd on for Linda’s dVerse prompt of “music” for a quadrille

I did not know datura was another name for jimson weed…now I have to go look for mine in Riverside Park, to see if it has returned this year yet. The blossoms are elusive though. (K)

They probably hide during the day. I bet if you go out there at night you’ll see them.

I’ve seen them blooming, but it’s a short window of opportunity. You have to be there on just the right day. But I imagine they would be magic with the moon shining on them.
