Toad squeak, giddy in spring fizz as
new green leaves weep April rain.
Feathers’ unboxed crayons shake,
sun-paroled from winter’s jail. En-
joyed, birds sing songs of suet cakes,
fat with fruits and nuts; now dessert
after fresh worms and autumn seeds,
their fluffed, animate cubes transform
to art, testament of survival and heart.
toad, giddy, fizz, weep, shake, crayon, nut, weep, jail, cakes, winter, transform, art, heart

Fruits, nuts and fresh worms – what a delicious feast for the birds!😀
As to spring, it’s in full swing – you see what I did there?😆
Speaking of the weather, after a rainy start in the morning, we had a beautiful sunny and warm afternoon in central New Jersey. I even may have gotten my first sun burn of the season – I guess I’ll find out!😆

Thanks for the wonderful comment, Christian. What were you doing outdoors today? I filled a planter and planted some free Grand Rapids variety of lettuce seed the library gave me.

I did a lot of walking, and it was partially accidental!
I was talking to a friend on the phone for about 45 minutes while walking through the forest without paying much attention where I was going. When exiting the forest, I ended up in place that was unfamiliar to me. When I finally looked in the GPS on my phone, I learned I was about 40 minutes away from my house.
Altogether, I almost walked for two hours. Now, I do feel my bones. But I guess it was good exercise!😆

Talking is a good distraction when it comes to walking. Good for you and glad you had your GPS to get back home.

Especially if the talking is about music. At the same time, it can be “dangerous” since I could easily do this for hours and hours!😆
And, yes, with my brilliant orientation sense, having a GPS definitely came in handy, quite literally!😀

The opposite of that toad squeak is the spring peeper – a frog so small it is hard to see from a few feet away without binoculars but with a big voice.

I especially like “sun-paroled from winter’s jail”. I can picture it bursting out, joyfully expanding.
We are losing frogs and toads at an increasing pace. It’s frightening. (K)
