#MM Saturday Mix — Storm’s End

The ship danced over the undulating waves of the ocean.
As the dolphin played hide and seek in its wake.
We knelt on the saltwater slick deck with a notion
Prayed land-ho before the wild hurricane spake
The captain in the wheelhouse was lashed to it fast
Reconciled he’d go down with her, good Captain Jones
While the rest of us quickly tied each other to the mast
The swells growing larger as our nausea moaned
The funnel approached with blood-curdling howls
Sucking up water like a drunk sucks his rum
Soon we’d be drowned in our Mistress’ bowels
Ship lurched then capsized, breathing water – we’re done.

This week we are diving into the depths of PERSONIFICATION. Our challenge is all about the use of personification in our writing. You will need to use the statement provided in your response – which can be poetry or prose.  Our statement using, personification is:
The ship danced over the undulating waves of the ocean.

Wow, Li What vivid imagery in your poem. It was Asif I am standing on the ship’s deck. Great poem.

I can just imagine that and many a ship downed such a way in Lake Michigan!
I found some pottery shards from a shipwreck when I was in Wisconsin (right on the lake) a few years back.

The lady runs deep and keeps many secrets for herself. You’re blessed she gave one up to you. Up in Munising, they have a glass bottom boat tour, where they go over shipwrecks. The day we went it was late in the season so we couldn’t do the whole tour because the water was too choppy, but we did see one.

In Wisconsin there is a museum with an interactive table for you to play with to see some of the shipwrecks. The Lady gifted me with sea glass and a fossil. But according to one of the locals fossils are easy enough to find. :)

There is a river that empties into Lake MI up in Copper Harbor that has some very special stones. There is also a road leading up to it along the lake that has some of the most beautiful lichen on the big stones along the shore.
