dVerse — Quadrille Monday 163 — Happy Halloween

It’s Monday morning and Halloween.
You’ve called in sick and we’ve slept in.
Rolled in blankets, warm pink links,
muffled crows call through the walls
wordless candycorns heralding day.

Kitchen-bound, terry-robed, I scare
us up scrambled eggs; sourdough
toast to go with fresh-made cuppajoe.

Scare up a poem of exactly 44 words, including some form of the word scare.
